Alyssa got her start pet-sitting then moved into working at a boarding and daycare facility managing play groups and taking dogs for off leash hike. She got a taste for dog behavior and never stopped seeking more knowledge. Alyssa has worked within the shelter world for upwards of 5 years, educating the public, the volunteers and the staff on safe animal care, animal welfare and enrichment and basic training principles. She enjoys working with dogs as they transition into new families or work through fear and confidence issues. Alyssa is very familiar with behavior challenges like fear, reactivity and aggression.

Dog Grrl was started in 1997 by owner and operator Jenny Test. Dog Grrl thrived and grew into a doggie daycare space in San Francisco that offered small dog daycare, puppy socials with classes with Smarty Pup and a BnB style boarding facility in Healdsburg California. As the business grew so did the desire to help dogs overcome their fears and anxieties so Jenny went to the Academy for Dog Trainers offered at the SPCA and taught by Jean Donaldson. Owner/Trainer Shane Stanis, CDBC, CPDT-KSA has been training dogs professionally for over 20 years. As an IAABC certified dog behavior consultant, I work primarily with families struggling with aggression, reactivity, phobias, compulsive behaviors, and my specialty - fear & anxiety. I work with clients in person in Central Contra Costa county, and virtually nationwide (and occasionally internationally). I also run an online group training program for shy and fearful dogs, Confidence Builders Academy.

Rover Rehab offers private virtual dog training and behavior consulting services, available worldwide. All of our training is force-free and fear-free and training programs are customized to the needs of each individual pet and their people. Rover Rehab specializes in working with fearful, shy, and anxious dogs as well as multi-pet households, including homes with cats.

I have been an in-home trainer of dogs and puppies in the Greater Baltimore area for 29 years. I cover all aspects of training including pet selection, family dog manners, behavioral issues like aggression and separation anxiety, as well as beginning sports training in obedience, rally, conformation handling, tricks, and agility.
