I am a KPA CTP (Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner) and CCUI (Certified Control Unleashed Instructor). My training is centered on learner empowerment and consent. I train by playing games and creating patterns to give the dog a sense of predictability and to create a strong reinforcement history for handler interaction. Modern Hound is owned and operated by Shoshi Parks, Ph.D., CPDT-ka, CSAT. Shoshi is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT). She completed the San Francisco SPCA's Dog Training Internship Program and Public Teaching Internship and is certified by the Canine Behavior Academy of the Marin Humane Society. In addition to her private dog training, Shoshi taught for several years at the San Francisco SPCA and continues to teach at other locations around the city. Shoshi also works with high-risk dogs adopted from the Humane Society of Silicon Valley.

I have been a professional dog trainer in NYC for 15 years. As a child, I participated in dog agility and showmanship through 4-H and won several local and state competitions. I began my path to become a trainer by receiving a certification from the vocational school, Animal Behavioral College. When I began to hit a wall in my self-education four years ago, I enrolled in CUNY's Psychology program, and will be graduating May, 2025 with honors with an interdisciplinary BA in Animal Psychology and Creative Writing. I am currently volunteering as a Research Assistant for the Center for Canine Behavioral Studies, as well as assisting in a lab at Hunter studying Pandas. I am also a PPG member.

I am Paul Inman, CTBC, a certified behavior consultant and trainer. I specialize in helping you raise your puppy or kitten in the urban & suburban environment and meeting your individual companion’s unique needs. I offer 1-hour behavioral consultations on any topic to help you understand your pet’s behavior and needs at any stage of life.
