As an IAABC certified dog behavior consultant, I work primarily with families struggling with aggression, reactivity, phobias, compulsive behaviors, and my specialty - fear & anxiety. I work with clients in person in Central Contra Costa county, and virtually nationwide (and occasionally internationally). I also run an online group training program for shy and fearful dogs, Confidence Builders Academy.

I always use Positive Reinforcement and Rewards-Based methods in all my training. Behavior Modification is always done using scientifically proven methods to modify, reshape or extinguish the unwanted behavior. I believe in being patient, compassionate, helping the dog to reshape its behavior at a comfortable pace for the dog, and doing it with confidence. That is where training you - the person - to train your dog, comes into my training philosophy.

I have been an in-home trainer of dogs and puppies in the Greater Baltimore area for 29 years. I am extremely vigilant about your dogs safety and am constantly striving towards educating myself on the best force free training methods in order to establish a loving relationship between myself and your canine companion. I train through gaining trust and build strong relationships with the dogs this way. I am not afraid to use treats and love. These are my tools. This means no shock, prong or choke chains or physical punishment. And lastly, we have sooo much fun!

Joyful Dog works one-on-one and in group classes with people and their dogs, teaching fun ways to live together with force-free tools and techniques for creative communication. We provide training in basic manners, behavioral problem-solving, puppy socialization, and a variety of special interests. Our positive approach includes Connection, Cooperation, and Control™, a curriculum founded on Suzanne Clothier’s Relationship Centered Training techniques, and Tellington TTouch® methods of body work and movement, to help dogs achieve physical and behavioral balance. We serve an online clientele, as well as in-person in Leesburg, Loudoun and western Fairfax counties in Virginia.

I started dogsitting over 20 years ago and became a professional dogwalker when I moved to San Francisco in 2013. I opened Skalliwags Pet Care in 2015 and it's been pure joy getting paid for what I love to do! I do 2 group walks/beach hikes a day that our minimum 60 min each. Groups are on the smaller side to create an ideal environment for exercise and facilitated socialization. I accept dogs in Oakland in neighborhoods near Lake Merritt for Daycare Only
