Nakama Dog Training uses force-free, science-based methods to help you and your dog build and maintain a healthy, happy relationship, with emphasis on nurturing your dog's natural behavior while also learning how to behave in a well-mannered way. I’ve been working with dogs as a hobby for over 20 years. I grew up training my first dog in both obedience and agility, and I currently have three rescue dogs of my own. I love dogs, cats, and critters of all kinds! Wondering about the name? Gambit was one of my former dogs who has since crossed the rainbow bridge. Whenever she was being naughty, I would jokingly say “dog Gambit!” to her.

Cheryl specializes in successful puppy raising, but also helps guardians with other dog behavior challenges. She offers in-person and virtual private sessions as well as small group classes and Puppy Day School. Cheryl attended the Academy for Dog Trainers in 2002 and have been professionally teaching dogs and their humans ever since.

As a dog trainer, Lauren is passionate about demystifying canine behavior and making training fun! She believes that understanding and appreciating how dogs communicate with us is paramount to creating strong dog-human bonds and happy homes. Lauren specializes in working with reactive dogs and their humans. She also offers private training, training walks, and solo enrichment walks. My name is Stephanie, and I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner with 14 years of experience working in the veterinary field. I have a bachelor's degree in Animal Biology from the University of California, Davis, accreditations in low-stress handling, Fear Free, and more. I love to learn and go to training, veterinary, and behavior conferences to stay up to date on the most current information on training methods, anxiety, and aggression. I specialize in helping pets with anxiety and aggression during vet visits, and I love teaching owners how to help their pets gain confidence in previously frightening environments.

We are a fear-free certified practice. We offer fear-free grooming, puppy grooming training, and behavior consulting including behavioral modification for scared dogs. Our founder is a CBCC-KA (Certified Behavior consultant-canine) certified by the CCPDT, as well as a IAABC member. Dogs are family to us.
