With multiple behavior and training certifications, including a KPA-CTP & Master's in Animal Shelter Management, and over a decade of experience, owner & operator Kiyoka (“Kiyo”) Tamesue is not just any dog trainer.

We strive to provide a comprehensive approach that combines an understanding of applied animal behavior, genetics, the dog's history, the impact of health and nutrition, and the dog's needs to provide realistic solutions to behavior problems. We aim to empower individuals to understand, train, and care for their dogs in a compassionate and cooperative manner. We believe that educating our clients is as much a part of training as working with their dogs. We are committed to pursuing ongoing education to ensure we are using the most humane, effective techniques.

She holds a bachelor's degree in biology and has a Counseling Certificate from the SF-SPCA dog training academy. She is also the founder of PetExpertise.com. Jess' philosophy of dog training is to prevent rehearsal of a problem behavior, teach a new incompatible behavior and to finally practice the new behavior in increasingly challenging situations with lots of rewards. Learning is FUN! I am a certified dog behavior consultant and certified dog trainer in obedeince, nosework and tricks. I am also a Service Dog Coach. I believe in science-based and positive reward-based training methods that create a fun learning environment for both humans and dogs. When you are having fun, whatever you do becomes rewarding and makes you want to do more of it. Through fun learning experiences, desirable behaviors are retained and repeated. My specialty is in working with anxious, fear-aggressive dogs and dogs with reactivity issuees. K9 Learning is based in Novato, CA and currently offers both in-person (in Marin) and virtual training (outside of Marin) sessions.

We recently moved from VT back to SF (was using the DBA Ruff Riders K9 Adventures in SF from 2002-2021). We offer private training, day training, solo walks and sub group dog walking, group training classes.

We provide dog walking, cat sitting and dog training. We service Norton and Mansfield, MA. Bonded and insured, pet first aid, CPPS, FFCP, CDTK.

I have been a professional dog trainer in NYC for 15 years. As a child, I participated in dog agility and showmanship through 4-H and won several local and state competitions. I began my path to become a trainer by receiving a certification from the vocational school, Animal Behavioral College. When I began to hit a wall in my self-education four years ago, I enrolled in CUNY's Psychology program, and will be graduating May, 2025 with honors with an interdisciplinary BA in Animal Psychology and Creative Writing. I am currently volunteering as a Research Assistant for the Center for Canine Behavioral Studies, as well as assisting in a lab at Hunter studying Pandas. I am also a PPG member.
