Pat Miller is a Certified Canine Behavior Consultant and Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She offers classes, behavior modification services, workshops and academies for trainers at her Peaceable Paws 80-acre training facility in Fairplay, Maryland, and presents seminars worldwide. She has authored “The Power of Positive Dog Training,” “Positive Perspectives,” “Positive Perspectives 2,” “Play With Your Dog,” “Do-Over Dogs,” and “How to Foster Dogs,” and “Beware of the Dog,” and is training editor for The Whole Dog Journal. She shares her home with husband Paul, three dogs, five cats, three horses, four chickens and a pot-bellied pig. All training at Peaceable Paws is force-free.

We are about community. Everyday we strive to make something better in serving our clients and their dogs. Julia, the business owner, is passionate about dogs and their care. This will be our 22nd year of serving our San Francisco community. Our daycare and boarding is based out of my 2,500 sq ft home, with a large backyard. We love what we do. We use only force free, R+ training methods. All of our staff are employees and we provide health, dental and retirement benefits.

We may get nostalgic for the ‘old days’, but when it comes to dog training we’re sure glad that some things have changed. A graduate of the Dog Training Internship Academy - a comprehensive program that provided me with a thorough understanding of animal behavior & learning and focused on the use of science-based training techniques to change both a dog's behavior and a dog's underlying emotional state that may be driving undesirable behavior. I'm also certified by The Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers. This requires that I have a minimum of 300 hours of experience; references from a veterinarian, client, and colleague(s); and have passed a comprehensive examination testing my knowledge of learning theory, canine ethology, animal husbandry, classroom management, and teaching techniques.
