I have loved animals all my life and feel a connection to dogs in particular. I have been training dogs professionally for 25 years and have been active in the rescue/shelter world for 30 years. I teach owners how to work with their dogs in a positive, fear-free environment and enhance the bond they have with their dog through consistent feedback and reinforcement. I work with dogs of all ages and breeds and have extensive knowledge with dogs that have behavioral concerns. On the flip side, I become the student when I attend workshops and seminars to learn new training methods. The field of animal behavior continues to evolve as well as our understanding of how animals learn.

I started dogsitting over 20 years ago and became a professional dogwalker when I moved to San Francisco in 2013. I opened Skalliwags Pet Care in 2015 and it's been pure joy getting paid for what I love to do! I do 2 group walks/beach hikes a day that our minimum 60 min each. Groups are on the smaller side to create an ideal environment for exercise and facilitated socialization. I accept dogs in Oakland in neighborhoods near Lake Merritt for Daycare Only

Prior to dog sitting, my pet care experience includes fostering rescues with Wonder Dog Rescue, Grateful Dogs Rescue and the SF/SPCA shelter. I also have experience as a volunteer dog walker at the SF/SPCA. I have experience working with dogs with a wide range of issues including: seniors, dogs with medical issues, including trauma and abuse/neglect. I have a special love for my work with fostering rescues, as well as walking shelter dogs. It’s an honor to have helped save the lives of many dogs. I currently work from home, have two children and prefer crate-trained dogs.

I specialize in small breeds only! I am insured and my home has been inspected to foster by the ASPCA. That being said we provide a loving home environment for your family member. I have cared for many seniors and have extensive experience with special needs dogs. I provide enrichment activities such as snuffle mats, lick mats, frozen healthy treats, a tunnel, and backyard jumps. We are kennel free. I provide boarding and daycare and have about 100 repeat clients! So we have different dogs coming and going daily, although I keep the number of pups at 5. Dogs in my care must be social with other dogs and cannot have separation anxiety or obsessive behaviors.

A graduate of the Dog Training Internship Academy - a comprehensive program that provided me with a thorough understanding of animal behavior & learning and focused on the use of science-based training techniques to change both a dog's behavior and a dog's underlying emotional state that may be driving undesirable behavior. I'm also certified by The Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers. This requires that I have a minimum of 300 hours of experience; references from a veterinarian, client, and colleague(s); and have passed a comprehensive examination testing my knowledge of learning theory, canine ethology, animal husbandry, classroom management, and teaching techniques.

Hello! My name is Jennie and I've been walking dogs in San Francisco for over 15 years. I take groups for one hour off leash walks in our beautiful parks. General training and good manners are reinforced with positive training techniques. I have assisted in training classes and puppy socials and worked at a dog day care. I have taken care of dogs, cats, fish, birds, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and reptiles. To say I love all animals is an understatement. I also do regular house sitting offering plant care as well as babysitting for all ages. Willing to travel with you for your pet or child sitting needs.
