Hi, there! I am a CPDT-KA credentialed, Fear-Free Certified dog trainer living and practicing out of San Francisco. I have an extensive background in the shelter and rescue world, and am also very passionate about purebred dogs, breed-specific behavioral traits, and helping urban dogs find activities that ignite their genetic strengths and talents. I am proud to use only rewards-based, motivational training methods. I train in a way that is fluid, exciting, and highly engaging, ensuring that every dog I work with WANTS to learn. My special areas of interest include puppy development, leash skills, reactivity, fears and sensitivities, cooperative care, scentwork, and general household skills.

I specialize in working with dogs with behavior issues, like fear, aggression, and anxiety, but I'm happy to work with any dog. Currently I offer private in-home and in person training as well as remote online training. My goal is to help you and your dog live a happier life together. Located in Dutchess County, NY we serve Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, parts of Westchester, Greene, and Orange counties. Accessibility is our first priority, we keep our prices fair, come to you, and offer virtual lessons for anyone outside out service area.

Dog Speak Services is owned and operated by Julia Alexander, KPA-CTP. Julia is a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP), having graduated with distinction. She focuses on how to help you help your dog succeed, keeping things as simple as possible, and flexibility. My goal is to reduce your stress and help you achieve your goals! The Life of Kai is a 501-c3. Our vision is to have fewer displaced dogs in the shelters and more pets in the homes. We hope to reach our goal through several programs. Humane education teaches empathy to build a kinder and compassionate generation. Training and dog behavior books based on science are available to the public with free and easy access. Coaching new adopters and guardians and teaching pet dogs to co-exist through better understanding of canine behaviors. Working pro-bono with rescues and fosters to make rescued dogs more adoptable and supporting a foster-centric community by creating a foster registry.
