Leo has worked professionally with dogs for over 20 years, primarily in shelters where pups are understandably stressed and in need of targeted behavioral support. They are an Academy for Dog Trainers honors graduate (CTC) and a CPDT-KA. They offer VIP boarding in their purpose-built home environment for dogs who struggle to fit into traditional pet-sitting and kenneling environments, as well as board and train programs for puppies, teens and adult dogs to help them and their people build foundations that will benefit them in various facets of their lives. As a force free professional, I apply the same level of gentle, effective care to educating humans as I do to training their dogs. My name is Irith (pronounced "Ee-reet") and I'm a certified professional pet and people trainer. Polite Pooches offers group classes and private training sessions utilizing positive reinforcement, force free methods only. We offer puppy classes through advanced manners. All private sessions & group classes are held at our safe, quiet, clean training center in Forest Hill, MD. All of our trainers have achieved at least their CPDT-KA certification. We teach using humane methods, and go at a pace each dog is comfortable with.

I specialize in using reward-based techniques to help families with dogs that are considered difficult, whether it is dog-dog aggression, resource guarding, aggression towards humans, reactivity to objects, noises, fearful/shutdown dogs. I also work with dogs that have had a bite history. In addition, I have a SmartPuppy Program that helps you grow puppies into smart, confident dogs and prevent many issues rather than fix them later. I use games, toys and food to train with fun and kindness.
