I started working in the pet care industry after I took in my grandfather's dog, Roxie. I worked in a small local pet shop, Sunset Pet Supply from 2014 - 2016. I learned all about animal nutrition and wellness. Then I moved into a dog walking position 2017 - 2018. I loved the dog walking so much, I decided to move on and start my own business. I wanted to be able to do more work to help the dogs and their pawrents!

I specialize in using reward-based techniques to help families with dogs that are considered difficult, whether it is dog-dog aggression, resource guarding, aggression towards humans, reactivity to objects, noises, fearful/shutdown dogs. I also work with dogs that have had a bite history. In addition, I have a SmartPuppy Program that helps you grow puppies into smart, confident dogs and prevent many issues rather than fix them later. I use games, toys and food to train with fun and kindness.

I have over 20 years experience working with animals, including 5 working in an animal shelter. I have experience with reactive, shy/fearful, and jumpy/mouthy dogs. I am committed to Fear-Free handling and love watching animals getting to be themselves.

Founded by Leah Mendonca, a Certified Fear Free Professional with Pet First Aid certification, Monterey Dog helps you and your companions live your best lives together. Services include: one-on-one dog walking and hikes, in-home or hotel pet sitting, overnight pet sitting, curated pet adventures, and wedding pet attendant services.

What started as a call to action and doing right by the furry friends in my life, this business was birthed from the trust and encouragement of my friends who had dogs and needed support. Fourteen years later, my team and I are ever grateful to have supported hundreds of pet owners, and made some life long friendships along the way. From Daycare support seven days a week, and Boarding overnight three hundred and sixty five a year, my passionate team is ready to support with your requested needs. Hello, I'm Aline from Brazil! I love animals and dogs are my passion. Four years ago I saved a dog that was abandoned on the highway. He was an old golden retriever and he was very sick. He lived with me for almost two years under medical treatment but unfortunately He passed away. I believe Dingo came to my life to teach me what real love is about, and also to make my love for animals grow stronger. I miss taking him for walks 3 or 4 times a day in the quiet neighborhood where I lived in São Paulo. I believe walking dogs is a job that can fulfill me with joy and passion. I'm here to make your dog as happy as I made Dingo!

I am a SF SPCA certified private trainer. After 11 years of working at the SF SPCA I branched out full time on my own. I offer basic training, leash reactivity training, and have a lot of experience with puppies. I also provide pet sitting in your home as well as training while I stay with your dog or puppy.
