I specialize in private lessons and work primarily online, so I can work with you wherever you are. I'm also the "economy trainer" because my rates tend to be much lower than other professionals. Hi! I'm Lorelei, the trainer behind BarkSmart Dog Training. I've always loved animals and have spent years learning about animal behavior and training. I completed two years of animal behavior coursework and have hands-on experience training dogs and other animals. My approach is positive, reward-based, and focused on understanding the individual dog rather than using a one-size-fits-all method. I work with puppies and adult dogs on obedience, leash skills, socialization, confidence, fear/anxiety, and mild reactivity. My goal is to help dogs succeed while giving their people practical tools they can use every day.

I became a full-time traveling house sitter in July 2020 and have thoroughly enjoyed this as I love to travel and staying in different homes to care for their pets. I work remotely as an insurance auditor so I am home often. Outside of work, I enjoy exercising 6 days a week as I am a retired triathlete.

I started a professional dog walking business in San Francisco, CA in the summer of 1992. I walked dogs and boarded dogs in San Francisco for 27 wonderful years. At the end of 2019, I made the decision to move out of San Francisco and move back to the East Bay, where I was born and raised. In 2020, I moved to beautiful Castro Valley and now I am boarding dogs ( small dogs only ) out of my home. I have a lovely park-like backyard, complete with its own "dog park" (synthetic lawn). I rescued a shelter dog in the middle of the pandemic. He is a 15 pound mixed breed dog named Fonzie. Fonzie gets along great with all dogs. I am licensed, bonded and insured.
