We are helping San Francisco’s pet owners whose dog/cat struggle with leash reactivity, social anxiety, fear, shyness, are seniors, and/or sick. We tailor each pet’s plan to their unique needs to minimize their triggers. Our approach is patience, building trust with your pet, providing a safe environment, positive reinforcement, and lots of love. Hello! My name is Paul and my dog walking business, The Perfect Pooch, is an owner operated dog walking business established in 2002. I offer force-free group outings to the Walter Hass Dog Park which is an enclosed dog park located in Diamond Heights. I currently have two groups, one in the late morning and one in the afternoon. The main focus of my dog walking business is to make sure that all my clients dogs experience fun & safe playtime each day. I provide equal attention to all of my clients dogs and make sure that they are well taken care of as if they were my own personal dogs. I am a force free dog walker certified through Dog Biz. I've have cared for my own pups for 20 plus years. I offer private and group walks for small to medium size dogs, as well as boarding in my home.

I have had dogs all my life the 22 years I grew up in The Netherlands. When I moved to San Francisco I felt that this was my calling; working as a professional with and for dogs! I have a psychology degree from The Netherlands, and finished the dog walking course before starting my own business. After that I wanted to learn more about dog psychology and training, so I took an intense course at a training academy. Every day I love my job more. The dogs are so happy and their gratitude makes every day a great day. My main goal is having as much fun with my pack as we can so that they can return home well satisfied from great exercise!

I have loved animals all my life and feel a connection to dogs in particular. I have been training dogs professionally for 25 years and have been active in the rescue/shelter world for 30 years. I teach owners how to work with their dogs in a positive, fear-free environment and enhance the bond they have with their dog through consistent feedback and reinforcement. I work with dogs of all ages and breeds and have extensive knowledge with dogs that have behavioral concerns. On the flip side, I become the student when I attend workshops and seminars to learn new training methods. The field of animal behavior continues to evolve as well as our understanding of how animals learn.
