It starts with socialization when your puppy is between 8 and 16 weeks and continues with one on one training or group classes using positive reinforcement. The Barkmont provides the finest dog daycare and boarding services in Berkeley and its surrounding communities. We're located at the corner of San Pablo and Pardee in West Berkeley, convenient locally and a few short blocks away from the Ashby and University exits of the I80/580.

We are a 501(c)(3) Non Profit utilizing Species Appropriate, Restorative, Animal Centered, Holistic Rescue & Training models. We are a welfare based organization. We want to revolutionize rescue in ways unimagined before. Be gone the days of warehousing and human convenience models. Usher in a new era of welfare and resilience. Steph trains everyone to meet dogs where they are! She utilizes force free techniques, whether dogs need a little extra help feeling safe, learning how to play with other dogs, learning how to trust people, or just plain making sure they get their exercise while they are out and about (and coming back when called!) She strives to help people learn how to understand their dog while cutting down on undesirable behaviors. Steph has a particular soft spot for all guard dog breeds, from shepherds to bullies, and especially enjoys working with them.
